For years, he built a reputation through his now-iconic High Seas Tattoo Parlor on Melrose Blvd in Los Angeles. Although he’s recently stepped back from owning a shop, he’s still creating tattoos that attract fans from all walks of life who want fast, top-quality tattoos that stand the test of time.
Meeting Shon Lindauer the Man Behind the Ink
It all started with my husband Franck’s dream of a large chest tattoo. With several American Traditional tattoos, including portraits of me and our daughter, Franck wanted a design symbolizing his life’s challenges. A recommendation from his rock-climbing buddy led us to Shon Lindauer. Hours later, after an intense but expertly crafted session, Franck left with a chest piece he’d be proud of forever.
Our own journey didn’t stop there. Inspired by a vivid dream, I envisioned a tattoo that symbolized love in action: two Qewpies embracing with the words “Love Makes A Way.” That led us back to Lindauer’s studio, kids in tow, for a family adventure in tattooing.

My Unique Tattooing Experience
As Shon worked on my tattoo, I had to keep myself from laughing because of the ticklish sensation of the tattoo gun. My strategy? Visualizing myself in a cube, detached from the experience. I had to behave just for a little while and that meant no laughing!
Shon’s last tattoo at his Los Angeles shop turned out to be mine, a memorable experience marking his transition to a more relaxed life on the East Coast.
