Mastering the Good Life: Secrets from Leslie Juvin-Acker with Mr. Biz Radio

Meet Mr. Biz

Ken Wentworth, also known as Mr. Biz, is a business strategist, author, and speaker who helps business owners increase profitability and efficiency. He is the founder of Mr. Biz Solutions, where he provides expert guidance on financial management, operational efficiency, and business growth strategies. Ken has authored multiple books on business success and hosts Mr. Biz Radio, a show dedicated to helping entrepreneurs navigate challenges and scale their businesses. His background includes extensive experience in corporate finance, and he now focuses on mentoring and advising small to mid-sized business owners.

Why I Went Back to Law School

As my coaching practice evolved, I found myself working more and more with corporate governance. I was advising executives on their relationships with boards and investors, and I knew I needed a deeper understanding of business law. That’s when I made the decision to study law at Northwestern California University School of Law.

Like Abraham Lincoln who taught himself the law, I studied law remotely, diving into ESG investing, corporate governance, and financial policy. This expertise has allowed me to provide even more value to my clients, helping them navigate business complexities with confidence.

The DEI Conversation: A Balanced Approach

One of the most thought-provoking parts of my conversation with Ken was about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). As a mixed-race woman in business and law, I understand the importance of creating opportunities for people who have been historically marginalized. At the same time, I also recognize that DEI must be implemented thoughtfully—without forcing decisions that don’t align with real-world business needs.

The key is to approach these issues with nuance. Not every person who questions DEI initiatives is racist, and not every company applying DEI principles truly understands business strategy. We need to find balance and take a case-by-case approach, using law, logic, facts, and a long-term perspective.

The Good Life: Learning to Slow Down

For years, I was in hustle mode—building my career, growing my business, and constantly striving for more. But at some point, I realized that success wasn’t just about working hard; it was about enjoying the life I had built.

That’s why I started The Good Life blog. It’s for people like me—high achievers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who have spent decades grinding but now want to embrace a more intentional way of living.

Last year, I made a big change: I sold my home in North County San Diego and moved to a medieval town in the southwest of France. This shift allowed me to re-evaluate my priorities, embrace slow living, and truly enjoy the fruits of my labor.

My Best Advice for Living The Good Life

If you’ve been working for 20+ years and feel like you’re stuck in overdrive, here are my top tips for embracing The Good Life:

  • Prioritize self-care. Go to bed early, get enough sleep, take your vitamins, and move your body every day.

  • Deal with burnout. If you’ve spent years caring for others—whether as a leader, a parent, or a mentor—it’s time to let people care for you too.

  • Embrace joy. We weren’t meant to work ourselves into the ground. Take time to travel, experience new things, and actually enjoy the life you’ve built.

What’s Next? My Upcoming Book

I’m currently working on my seventh book, Bad Laws: How American Legal History Reveals America’s Character. This book explores corporate governance, business regulations, and the legal decisions that have shaped our country. It’s my way of merging my expertise in coaching and law to help people navigate the business world more effectively.

My Favorite Self-Care Ritual

At the end of our interview, Ken asked me about my favorite self-care indulgence. My answer? Dancing in front of the mirror. It’s something I’ve loved doing since I was a little girl, and it always makes me feel free and energized. Music, movement, and a little fun—it’s a simple joy that costs nothing but gives everything.

If you’re ready to embrace The Good Life, I invite you to follow my journey and discover what slow, intentional living can do for you.
